„More than anything, it’s about our effort. And when we’re consistently satisfied with that, it no longer becomes about trying to create a result. When we’re happy with our effort, and pleased with ourselves, we no longer feel the lack of not having the experience. That’s when the magic begins. And the paradox of the mystery reveals itself to us.“
Gee, this is so true: when you do the work, when you do it with love and joy, magic happens all around you. And deep awe and gratitude will be your travel companions.
I’m so glad you’re on Substack Dr. Joe! The Mrs and I are advanced students and the challenge we’re having is actually finding the time to do the work. Yet I can’t thank you enough for teaching us this work because it’s had a huge impact in our lives. 1000 thanks 🙏
Thank you so much for this! I think you’d my Substack interesting.
I’m stringing together all the coincidences I’ve written down for the past ten years and weaving them into a tapestry, trying to see what it all means.
There have been plenty of fascinating insights along the way.
I’d love to know what you think!
If you go the archives and read the posts in order, you’ll see how everything seems to fall perfectly into place - often in surprising ways.
Reading this felt like someone handed me a cosmic Post-it note that just said, “Stop trying so hard, sweetheart. The universe heard you the first time.”
This whole series has been like spiritual aikido—reminding me that surrender isn’t flopping over like a fainting goat, it’s learning to lean into mystery without throwing a tantrum when it doesn’t text back.
Loved the reminder that the quantum doesn’t run on a punch clock. It’s not “Results May Vary,” it’s “Results Will Absolutely Surprise You at the Most Inconvenient Time—Probably While You’re Doing the Dishes.”
I’ll be over here, failing gloriously, trying again, and pretending not to care if the void swipes right on me. Thanks for the sacred nudge.
Appreciating but need more clarity and depth of key points . This Substack essay starts with energy and ends with efforts. So to bring value to us the audience, Source of energy, and variations to efforts via various self directed inner+outer, at the bridge of Arts and Science can bring value investment options for seekers of quality life style as myself. Thanks.
I think this is a deeper topic to be explored. How to have goals but let go of outcomes. We need to be able to do both but they often feel at odds with one another. We need vision and direction but also the ability to release attachment. This is where real freedom often lives.

When freeing expectation, we walk our path alone. This is growth. To be confident in all choices and encourage others to follow.
Just have to do the thing!

Surrender. The word brings fear into bodies because of that unknown. Expectations set us up judgement. Surrender is in the SOUL
